We recently went into Boston to watch the annual Run to Remember, a combination event, consisting of both a 5 mile run and a half marathon. “It’s a tribute, a celebration, a run to remember fallen heroes”, and is very well attended, by runners, volunteers and supporters.
While I was focused on the obvious subjects – the runners – I made it a point to watch the crowds, looking for their story.
Here’s what I saw.
Some people came to lend encouragement…
Some came to offer a smile…
And there were those who offered BOTH encouragement and a smile…
There were the dedicated volunteers…
And those who came out for their loved ones…
And finally, there were some who were there just because Mom said so…
Whatever the reason, they came, they cheered and they helped make a difference.
“I’d like to say to all my fans out there, thanks for the support. And to all my doubters, thank you very much because you guys have also pushed me.”

Great stories and photos Ed! Many smiles and colors on the day it looked like, and you captured it all well!
Thanks Rodney – got to get out on the street more often. That’s where it’s at! Ed
Very nice crowd work; I often find the spectators more interesting than the event itself. You shots are exceptionally clear, sharp and colorful. Thank you!
Thanks Thelma – I agree. Sometimes the most compelling stories are NOT where you’re focused but all around you. Have a great day. Ed
