The Bleak Season

rey spadoni

It’s in the betweenness of it all.

No longer winter, with sparkled shimmer landscapes.

Not yet spring, with blossoms and bloom.

We transition.

I’m invigorated, camera held, down a familiar path.  Some days.

But the betweenness of all, right now.

Sloppy footing, grayscale horizons.

Tempered black and white, at best.

Bleak.

Image taken with Fujifilm X100s – now considered ‘old faithful’ – and tweaked in Lightroom.  Nearly handheld as this was perched on a stone wall structure for support, facilitating the longer shutter speed.  The X100s sensor cries out for higher ISOs, allowing for frozen motion.  I dutifully resisted.

X100. Don’t leave home without it.

  3. I would say your image is anything but bleak. I like evrything about it. It exudes hope!
