Joey shot briefly with the Fujifilm X100 and wasn’t impressed. His assessment: “Slow. Lacking.” So, when he had the chance to take the updated X series camera (Fujifilm X100s) into the field, he was pleasantly surprised.
According to Joey: “I wanted to test out the camera’s updated autofocus to see if it was what everyone was raving about. Spoiler alert: it isn’t.” Although he was impressed with Fujifilm’s efforts, the autofocus is still not in the same league as competitors’ models (e.g., Olympus OM-D E-M5 and Sony NEX-6). Joey continues: “Is that a problem? No. Lucky for me, this flower wasn’t trying to catch a touchdown pass.”
Overall, however, Joey was impressed with the shooting experience and image quality. He’ll be offering further thoughts soon.
I’ll be watching. I absolutely love my X100 and haven’t really had issues with focusing. It is always a little concerning when an “updated” model shows up, thinking I pulled the trigger too soon with the 100 model. From what I have heard so far apparently I don’t have to worry about that. Image quality, portability and of course the amazing viewfinder are my favorite attributes.
