According to the artist, Prentis Drew: “‘The Unknown Beyond’ was shot in an early morning walkabout at the Juanita Bay Park, a wetlands park near my home in Kirkland, WA. A cold fog had settled in which gave everything a mysterious look and feel. It was shot with a D90, 105mm, f/5.3, 1/250 sec.”
I particularly like this image because of the disjointed nature of the feelings it evokes. I see a scene that is both inviting and unsettling. I want to proceed into the vegetation covered boardwalk entrance-way but feel discomfort in not knowing what lies ahead. It’s a scene from a misty, dark country manor where all is not what it seems. Cue: Vincent Price laughter.
Well done, Prentis.
Stunning! You are right in saying that it is both inviting and unsettling. I can picture the gothic manor. A great photo 🙂
I love a shot that is thought provoking and this one does the trick.
Not to worry folks. Nothing at the end of that boardwalk but birds, turtles, and photographers with great big lenses.
Love the mood of this photo Prentis. I only find it inviting personally. The unknown is a fun adventure and you make me want to venture to Kirkland!
