Yes, a Nikon D5200 is in the arsenal now. See here for all that drove me to it. Why the D5200, a consumer/beginner oriented camera? Four reasons: small, light, cheap, capable. I’ll be doing a review in the coming days. So far so good.

Love the shot! Clear and crisp – and the subject is so obliging on holding still ;o)
Rey, such a fun and insightful image. I best not show it to Carson because he literally goes biserk over squirrels!
Beautiful Capture!
Cant wait to get the full review Rey… I like my Nikon D3000, but if the D5200 is smaller and lighter I may have to invest? Keep me posted.
Rodney – will do. The D3000 is a great camera but you’ll feel right at home with the D5200 as its interface is quite similar. The upgraded sensor/resolution coupled with swivel screen, improved ergonomics and vasty enhanced AF performance are all tempting upgrade enticers.
Rey
What a beautiful photo. You have captured this little soul magnificently. I love the depth of field, too. The whole image exudes peace and beauty. Wonderful!
Thanks all for the nice comments. I’m no wildlife photographer and a common field squirrel is no impressive subject, but there was something about this little guy and his (or her) setting that captured my imagination. Hoping to shoot bigger game later in the year…
