The 1983 film “A Christmas Story” has been a family favorite of ours for years. It’s the story of 9 year old Ralphie and his family in the weeks before Christmas. Well, on Christmas day, I was the happy recipient of a genuine replica “leg lamp,” as seen in the film.
If you haven’t seen the movie, I can’t really do it justice here, but suffice to say, just as Ralphie’s Mom was mortified when Dad won his “major award” and promptly placed it in the front picture window of their home, so too did I. You just have to share something this special with everyone, right??
The neighbors are still talking, but Mrs. Ed is not.
At least not to me.
Ed,
You’re a braver man than I…hat’s off to you.
Happy New Year…looking forward to more posts from you next year. All the best…
Frank V.
Thanks Frank. It’s still in the window, as of right now. Happy New Year to you as well.
Love this one Ed! My favorite movie!
Thanks Dianne, same here. Happy Holidays!
Ha Ha Ha… I have never seen a better photo of a leg lamp! Actually, I have never seen a photo of a leg lamp ever! But I remember the movie as a child. Haven’t seen it in years, but I vaguely remember the wife warming up to the lamp? Am I wrong? Good luck with yours Ed :0)
Not so sure she warmed up Rodney. Not too warm here either!
Frag-il- e!
“It must be Italian!”
I love it!!! It reminds me of my legs – many, many, many, many years ago…Or was that someone else…my memory fades when I go back that far…
We have the benefit of being our own “editor in chief” when it comes to memories, so I’m sure you’re right!
