This is Howie, my son’s pet Betta Fish, also known as a Siamese Fighting Fish. Howie can be rather skittish, and whenever I’ve tried to capture him digitally in the past, he’s always managed to swim rapidly to the far side of the bowl. But on this day recently, he was posing just for me. So with the Sony NEX 6 and built in flash, I captured his beautiful colors. Patience is a virtue.
f/5.6, 1/60s, ISO 320
Nice job. Ed.
Thanks John.
Patience IS a virtue and thank goodness you have it Ed. Love the “bubbles” in the photo below the Betta. Are they marbles? how did you get him to position his fin between them? :0)
Thanks Rodney. Those are flat glass marbles. It took some negotiating but I had to promise him a 20×30 print to hang over his fireplace… a bit of a primadona if you ask me.
Awesome — I love Bettas. Almost makes me want to get another one!
Do it Deb. Low maintenance and a captive subject when you’re out of photo ideas!
You have many talents. But I never knew that you were a fish whisperer? How did you ever capture that moment. They are very fast little creatures….
That should have been the title for the post, “Fish Whisperer at Work”. LOL!
