Obviously, photo realism was not the goal here. I took this shot with a Nikon D70 back in 2004 as were passing through Amish Country in Pennsylvania. I thought that the shot stood on its own as it revealed a moment of work from a young man tending the earth in the manner in which it has been done for centuries. I decided to pass it through some filters in whatever photo editing software I was using at the time (this was prior to my full-time move to the Apple Mac platform, so I know it wasn’t iPhoto). This “painted” effect is all that remains in my library as the original is, for some reason, completely gone. There’s a chance that that’s because I was using a destructive editing platform in those days whereby the original file was contaminated beyond recovery by all subsequent edits.
Still though, I like this. I’m curious to see what kind of reaction this Daily Photo Phix receives as it’s probably not to everyone’s taste.

I like it. There are so many tools available to play with in PP and some times they give us something special. This works for me.
I like it very much! Love the colors and dreamy look and I think the painting effect probably adds more to the image than was in the ‘straight’ shot.
This works for me too. I have nothing against transforming a digital picture into a work of art that goes beyond the original photograph.
Mark, Kara, Maryann – thanks very much for your comments!

Photography IS an art form, and even more so with technology. Why not turn a photo into a “painting” if you can. I LOVE this photo! I am amazed this can actually be done to a photo, and it makes me want to experiment more! Monet could not have done it any better! Well done Rey. Glad you saved this photo.
Great pp Rey, I like it too.
