We made our way north, up the coast. I had read and heard that this would be a most memorable drive. Stunning vistas at every hairpin turn, they all said. That’s why so many car commercials are shot there. It’s hard for anything to look uncool against that backdrop.
Yet, there we were… looking and feeling pretty uncool. We were surrounded by a thick fog and it was everywhere. Couldn’t see a darn thing all the way up the California Pacific Coast Highway, described as The California 1 by someone we met further south.
And then it cleared. We pulled the car over, probably dangerously so, and proceeded down a narrow, wooded path toward the water. There’s got to be some coastline here on this here coastline, we thought.
Nikon D50 (one of the best bang for the buck digital cameras ever) at ISO 400, f10, 1/200 second. Surprisingly little treatment after the fact. It was that blue.
