Rodney Daly sent us these images from a recent photo excursion, where he went looking for Loons but came back with another find as well.
Rodney tells us:
This is one of my personal favorites from a recent kayak excursion. I was on Grafton Pond in NH, my favorite pond in the world, and I brought my Nikon 55-200mm lens in anticipation of photographing loons. I got some nice loon photos, but what I didn’t anticipate was this photo. As I crept to a secluded spot amongst some reeds, I kept hearing frogs croak. But they silenced anytime I got close. Finally I spotted this guy being very still! I didn’t want to get too close and scare him, so I was glad I had my 200mm zoom. I took several shots and this one popped out to me with the contrasting yellow and green. I wish I would have blurred it a little more in the background, but I still like this. Cheers, Rodney
Thanks Rodney, that was a terrific find. I find my eye drawn right in to that yellow patch. And to prove there were loons in the pond, he sent us this close up:

Nice shots, Rodney. I give you credit taking your Nikon gear on a kayak. I went kayaking with my son recently and we capsized twice. I was happy I only had my Panasonic TS1 submergeable and indestructible camera with me at the time…

Thanks Rey…. I am always leary of taking my camera, but I am a single kayaker on a very still pond with NO motor boats, so it would be extraordinary if I would be to capsize. The loons are always worth it! And the occasion of something different like the frog I saw.
Sounds absolutely idyllic: kayaking on a still pond with a camera. Puts me right in the mood to pull off this necktie and to head out to nature…
