Holy Crop!

Has this ever happened to you?  You see something interesting… a reflection, an intricate patchwork of shadows, a striking glow of light hitting an interesting subject?  You take the shot but then, upon later inspection, find that it’s only so-so.

This is such a photo.  I took it minutes ago on my iPhone 4 as I entered the back door of an office building.  I was intrigued with the long drawn lines from the shadows set off against the concrete pillars and hand rails toward the right.  Upon inspection, once I settled down inside, it was clear to me that there wasn’t much here.

But, perhaps with a bit of strategic cropping and a contrast boost and b&w conversion…?  You’ll note I also blurred the corners to draw the viewer’s eye toward the central parallel lines.  Total post processing time in iPhoto?  1 minute.

Still not an award winner… but better, I hope.  What do you think?

Nice cropwork 🙂 I think I would have skipped the blurring of the corners and added some vignetting instead. That’s me, I like a more natural look.
