Racing to Catch a Train That Wasn’t

photo_HDR.jpg

If you saw Steve Martin in “Planes, Trains and Automobiles”, then you’ll understand what getting home from Washington DC in a snow storm was like for me last week.

As I was crossing the street, headed to Union Station to grab a train (of course, I didn’t realize that it and every train north had been cancelled for the day), I looked up and saw the U.S. Capitol Building.  I was struck by the ominous sky and sunny highlights on the dome itself.  I took this shot with my iPhone 4 and then imported into Nik HDR Efex Pro for a bit of contrast tweaking and, of course, the black & white conversion.

Cool shot. It’s eerie how empty the street is – has a post-apocalyptic look to it. I like the flag on the roof to the right, also kind of eerie.
